Abstract:
This contribution reports on the monitoring of corrosion processes which occur on the contact between monolithic refractory materials and real slag resulting from the municipal waste incineration process. A static crucible corrosion test is used to assess the influence of the ash melt on the corrosion of unshaped refractory materials. Two types of unshaped refractory materials are used in the experiments, namely the high-alumina refractory concrete and the SiC-based ramming mass. The samples are prepared using a prescribed technological procedure. They are filled with the slag and loaded into the laboratory electric resistance furnace. The course of corrosion is evaluated using a macroscopic analysis, chemical analysis, microscopic analysis and semi-quantitative EDX analysis. On the basis of the results obtained, corrosion processes occurring on the contact between the examined lining and the slag melt are described.
